Tips and tricks for the MIG Expos 2020

14th February 2020

Will you be exhibiting at the MIG Expos? If you are we would like to share with you some tips and tricks that will be helpful on the day and leading up to the event. If you are not an exhibitor, there are also some ideas as to what you can do at the event.

As you may beware preparing for an exhibition can be both exciting and busy, however, we have put together some advice that will help you make the process smooth sailing.

One of the most important aspects to ensure you have everything for your stand is the MIM Expo Exhibitor portal. You should have received an email on 3rd February giving you access to the portal, if you didn’t you can contact and we will be happy to help.

Here you will find all of the tasks that will need completing leading up to the event, from compulsory tasks to ones you may want to complete as additions to your stand. A useful tip is to get the compulsory tasks completed as soon as possible, therefore you will be able to concentrate on other things you may want for your stand. Also, by making sure this has been completed early on, it gives you time for any issues there may be with the documents you submit.

A very useful tool on the portal is the A-Z general information to plan your stand, if you have already planned what your stand will look like, you may want to have a look at this section to ensure your plans comply with the venue's regulations. To promote your company at the exhibition you will find the Marketing Toolkit, here you can download banners and graphics for your website, your microsite and social media.

Another tip for exhibiting at the Expo is to bring a product or something that is interactive. This will engage visitors beyond face-to-face sales communications. For example if you are a robotics specialist, try to bring one of your products along. People will be interested to see how the product works, you may even end up with strong lead as a result of this. If you provide more services than a physical product, it may be a good idea to bring promotional flash games, another popular way to engage visitors. This is fun and brings some lighthearted competition, as well as being a great tool for generating traffic to your stand and website.

If you are not exhibiting and will be attending the event, whether it be to see what manufacturing capabilities there are in the Midlands or to network with potential connections, you may want to bring along some business cards. Though this is a given at any event, make sure you have these to hand as you never know who you may meet and when.

Also, it is almost always beneficial to plan your day before attending the event, make sure to research what companies will be attending and make a list of who you would definitely like to visit. We will soon be releasing keynote speakers for the event, ensure to have a look at the programme of events and plan your visit around some of these sessions. Keynote speakers often offer insightful ideas and best practices that may benefit your company.
